Gurugram, India – November 2024: Samsung India has completed the certification of 3,500 students under the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program for the year 2024.
Aligned with the Government of India’s #SkillIndia and #DigitalIndia initiatives, the Samsung Innovation Campus focuses on improving the employability of the youth by training them in high-demand tech areas such as AI, Internet of Things, Big Data and Coding & Programming.
In 2024, Samsung’s flagship CSR initiative expanded its reach, enrolling 3,500 students compared to 3,000 students in 2023. Under this initiative, 12 SIC certification events were organized in educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Courses under SIC are running in six universities, as well as in one National Skilling Institute.
“As AI enters the age of new technologies and is poised to radically change our lives, it is imperative to engage with today’s youth and harness their potential to create a brighter future. With the Samsung Innovation Campus, we aspire to bridge the skills gap among Indian youth, enabling them to become future innovators. This program reinforces Samsung’s commitment to being a strong partner and contributor towards India’s development story, Skill India and Digital India,” said JB Park, President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia .
As part of Samsung’s continuous drive towards excellence, the toppers in each domain in these educational institutions will be honored with cash prizes worth Rs 1 lakh and Samsung products. Selected national toppers will get an opportunity to visit Samsung’s state-of-the-art centers in Delhi NCR to interact with the company’s leadership.
“Overall, the course enhanced my readiness for AI projects and opened doors to exciting opportunities in the field. The course begins with essential AI concepts and moves on to machine learning and deep learning applications. This progress enabled me to build a strong theoretical foundation, after which I was able to approach complex topics with confidence,” said Kanchan Lata Srivastava, who recently completed the AI course.
This year, participants in the AI program underwent 270 hours of theoretical training, followed by 80 hours of project work. IoT and Big Data students completed 160 hours of theory and 80 hours of hands-on project work, while Coding and Programming participants participated in the hackathon after completing 80 hours of theory. Students get hands-on experience in emerging tech fields with practical study modules, capstone projects and best-in-class training.
“As an Internet of Things (IoT) instructor, I have the privilege of guiding students through one of the most exciting areas of technology today. The course structure allows students to combine theory with practice, thereby understanding the potential of IoT to accelerate connectivity and innovation. It was great to see the students apply their skills to real life situations, including understanding the importance of IoT in today’s era. The Samsung Innovation Campus provides a rich environment for students to explore and innovate,” said Aman Khan, IoT Trainer, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), New Delhi. The final phase of the 2024 program concluded with a certification event for 200 students in IoT on 28 October at NSIC.
