India’s climate, imparting a unique character to each sip.

The Art of Single Malt Making
With over four decades of malt experience, South Seas Distilleries has been a cornerstone of India’s malt
whisky heritage, crafting world-class malts for leading global brands. Crazy Cock single malt marks their
bold shift to unveiling their own luxury consumer brand. This endeavour, driven by the founder’s
passion and resilience, showcases single malt making as an art form, not just a business. South Seas has
displayed a commitment to excellence in every step of making of Crazy Cock single malt whiskies – from
double-distilling these in iconic copper pot stills to the meticulously crafted bottle design that is inspired
by the shape of these copper pot stills, premium labels, and rare Flor-grade corks—used in less than 1%
of corked products worldwide.
The Name With A Legacy
The name is an ode to the founder’s vision: “Crazy” symbolises the passion and tenacity that drove him
to pioneer a world-class distillery at a time when single malts were virtually unknown in India. Just as the
crow of a rooster, or the “cock”, signifies a new day, the launch of Crazy Cock single malt whiskies marks
a new era for South Seas from supporting the biggest Indian and global brands, to also releasing its own
Original Bottling.
Crazy Cock single malt RARE is an unpeated expression aged in double oak barrels, offering a rich amber
hue and velvety finish. Crazy Cock single malt DHUA, meaning smoke in Hindi, is the peated expression
with smoky undertones and a complex profile.
Rupi Chinoy, Director of South Seas Distilleries, says, “Our family’s history and association with malts
pre-dates most players in the country. This is not merely a business for South Seas; it is a heartfelt pursuit
of whisky-making where time and patience take precedence over speed and scale.”
Additionally, South Seas has gone a step further to cater to discerning travelers by introducing higher-
ABV variants of RARE and DHUA (46%), available exclusively at duty-free outlets across India, including
Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa and Chandigarh. These are also available for retail in the
UAE. These travel-exclusive editions offer a richer, more intense single malt experience.
Hamavand Chinoy, Director of South Seas Distilleries, comments, “The most unique aspect of our
distillery is the vast liquid library. We selected RARE and DHUA from our private collection of rare casks
to curate a line of luxury single malts for consumers who enjoy unpeated or peated varieties. These two
expressions, matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry first-fill casks, resonate well with consumers as their
distinct character truly stands out.”
Beyond Single Malts Expertise: Six Brothers Mahura
Expanding its repertoire, South Seas has revived the heritage Indian Mahura (Mahua) spirit with Six
Brothers Mahura, made entirely from Mahura flowers and distilled in the same copper pot stills as Crazy
Cock single malt. Positioned to join global spirits like Tequila, Cognac, and Scotch, Six Brothers Mahura
exemplifies the distillery’s pioneering spirit. With four decades of expertise in malt maturation and
ongoing innovations in the single malt and Mahura categories, South Seas Distilleries is poised to elevate
Indian spirits to global acclaim.
