MUMBAI: Taking inspiration from the iconic Goan moto-culture of the 70s and 80s, Royal Enfield, the world leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250-750 cc), has launched the bobber-inspired motorcycle Goan Classic 350. This motorcycle compliments a fit and active lifestyle. The Goan Classic 350 is a tribute to the kaleidoscope of self-expression that has made up India’s unique Goan moto-culture. The motorcycle is part of the four-stroke, sun-soaked hippie machine freewheeling counterculture that emerged in Goa in the seventies and eighties, offering a freewheeling and exhilarating ride.
With every curve and contour the Govan Classic is inspired by the stripped-down and tripped-up creations of Goa’s custom builders, the perfect combination of Bobber’s passion and the Govan lifestyle. Chopped fenders, mid-appe handlebars, ergonomically fitted low-slung seats and rear silhouette give riders a spirited ride, while also reflecting their individuality. The power of the engine evokes the feel of the golden age of Goa, where a bright sunny day makes you want to enjoy every moment. With true bobber-inspired DNA, the Mattercycle features a single-seat design, floating rider seat and whitewall tires on tubeless spoke wheels, reflecting the iconic customizations of bobber culture.
Commenting on the new Govan Classic 350, Siddharth Lal, Managing Director, Eicher Motors said, “The Govan Classic is a tribute to the passion for freedom and individuality that Royal Enfield has championed for decades. To me, this motorcycle symbolizes the best of Goan moto-culture and Royal Enfield’s passion for creating the best motorcycles that express self-discovery and expression. This motorcycle is suited to turn heads on the roads of Goa while giving avid and freewheeling riders a relaxed and exhilarating Goan vibe.”

Expressing his opinion about this new motorcycle, the CEO of Royal Enfield B. Govindarajan said, “Rooted in custom bobber culture, the Govan Classic is a fine fusion of design and modern engineering. With a low-slung silhouette and single floating rider seat, the Govan offers a comfortable and exhilarating ride with a classic bohemian and edgy vibe, with contours and ergonomics and an alluring kaleidoscope of color schemes. This motorcycle is for riders who want to enjoy every moment of life while traveling from one place to another.”
The Govan Classic features the popular 349 cc air-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which delivers great power with improved specifications. Producing 20.2 bhp of power at 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the engine delivers smooth, effortless performance that suits the laid-back nature of bobber riding. The 5-speed gearbox ensures smooth gear shifts and comfortable cruising whether in city traffic or the open highway.
Designed on a twin downtube spine frame, the motorcycle offers a comfortable and stable ride on all types of roads. The telescopic front suspension along with 41 mm forks and twin rear shock absorbers in this motorcycle ensure the right balance between comfort and control. Edge-less 19-inch front and 16-inch rear aluminum spoke wheels and whitewall tubeless tires offer the best grip, while 300 mm front and 270 mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS offer improved stopping power. A comfortable riding position, mid-mounted foot controls and ergonomic handlebars ensure a comfortable and exhilarating ride over long distances, perfect for riders who enjoy the ride more than the destination. The Govan Classic 350 comes with an easy bolt-on arrangement pillion seat, which allows the rider to switch between single and dual seat configurations.
This motorcycle integrates its retro design with modern technology. The dashboard of this motorcycle has a tripper navigation pod for gear position indication and turn-by-turn directions, ensuring convenience during every ride. A USB Type-C charging port allows riders to stay connected on the go. The motorcycle features headlamps, pilot lamps and turn indicators with LED lighting, which enhances visibility along with attractiveness. Premium features like aluminum switch cubes add to the overall look and feel, where the Govan Classic has a harmonious blend of classic design and modern functionality.
Royal Enfield collaborates with Rafoo’D to launch a collection inspired by the diverse elements of boho and Goa. This collection represents the spirit of yesteryear, where life was lived in harmony with nature. The collaboration is inspired by the hippie counterculture of the 70s and 80s, where each piece exudes a diverse energy, celebrating individuality and self-expression. The collection captures Goa’s iconic ‘Susegedo’ vibe with sleek silhouettes, earthy natural fabrics and striking, psychedelic prints, and invites you to experience a unique universe. Oversized shirts, breezy trousers and funky accessories like bucket hats and totes add style that evokes an adventurous ride on the open road and a beachside lifestyle.
The new Goan Classic is available in a variety of color schemes, where each variant is designed to capture the excitement of Goa’s iconic moto-culture and yesteryear vibe. Each model features new tank badges and bespoke color schemes, which reflect this approach. Shack Black offers a mix of matte and gloss contrasts with an attractive, dark palette, while Rev Red draws attention with metallic red and black tones for a neo-retro feel. Purple Haze combines a black base with a striking purple hue, and Trip Teal is inspired by unique mandala graphics, which reveal new, contrasting tones of orange and teal. Chrome assets and slash-cut silencers along with these color schemes give the bike a unique bobber style look, reflecting the Royal Enfield heritage with modern appeal.
Accompanying the new Govan Classic is the bespoke, bobber-inspired Genuine Motorcycle Accessories (GMA) range, which further adds to the motorcycle’s bobber specification and style. These include a custom rider seat, handlebar grips, bar-end mirrors, touring handlebars, deluxe foot pegs and foot control rubbers, designed in custom-brown shades for a distinctive look.
